Breakthrough 93: Day 1

Written by Pastor Nelson Jones

Our meditative question for the week

If January 1, 2017 was the first day of the year of our Lord's return, what three things would be done differently in your world?

Related scriptures for meditation:

Morning

9After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

10They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Acts 1:9-11 NIV

Noon

13Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15According to the Lordʼs word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians. 4:13-18 NIV

Evening

1Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

4But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thessalonians. 5:1-11 NIV

If Jesus is coming back now, I think the relationship between God and me will be the most important thing that I need to care about. Thank you pastor Nelson for giving us this opportunity to master our practice. I want to have intimacy with our Trinity God this year and to get ready for His second coming. Our rewards in eternity depend on this relationship with our Trinity God too. I pray Trinity God help us all grow stronger and increase our faith in believing in Trinity God and give Trinity God the biggest glory.

I am excited to see how God will change my heart with prayer. I have never been one what has been consistent with prayer although being a believer for most of my life. Today's sermon was a game changer and a real motivator to get started.

The five fingers of prayer have helped me focus in prayer so much more than I've been able to in some time. Thank you for this.

Really appreciate the structure of this and the message this morning re enforcing the value of structure. Praise God that we can come before Him confidently in prayer because we have His righteousness.
